Bill Robb, 81, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away on Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne.
On July 22, 1944, William Rex Robb was born in Bloomington. He was a treasured son of Fred and Wilmas Bernice Pimberton Robb. Growing up in Monroe County, with his brother Rick, Bill graduated from Bloomington High School with the class of 1962.
Shortly after high school patriotism beckoned with Bill answering the call serving our country with the United States Army. A huge patriot, Bill made his service stint his career retiring from the US Army after 20 years of service. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam and also was stationed in Germany. His decorations include: Bronze Star Medal with V Device, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal w 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Purple Heart, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award) and the National Defense Service Medal.
Working stateside Bill worked at the Disney World Resort while living in Florida. He was also a member of the Corrections Departments. Bill was a life member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
As a weightlifter, Bill kept himself fit over the years. He loved singing karaoke and could belt out the tunes. Bill loved football and he and Sophie relaxed on the sofa each fall soaking in the games.
Left to cherish Bill's memory are his wife Tammy K. Robb at home;3 three children: Jennifer (Soy) Phonsanna, La Verne, TN, Brett Bumford of Rochester, Aaron Ruthruff of Charlotte; bonus daughter Jessica Bumford of Michigan; 11 grandchildren: Mackenzie, Sonesah, Neela, Bradley, Kyleigh, Landon (Serving our Country with the US Navy), Khloe, Brennick, Bryson, Cadyn; two great-grandsons: Hudson and Wesley; a brother Rick Robb of Evansville; and his loving canine Sophie the Golden Retriever.
A celebration of Bill's life will take place in 2026 along with military honors.
