Obituary

Mrs. Betty I. Ginther, 84, of Rochester was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 4:54 p.m. December 16th 2014 at her residence. On April 9, 1930, Betty was born in Kewanna to Gilbert K. and Ollie Harris White. Growing up she shared her childhood with six brothers and four sisters. Betty was introduced to the love of her life and soul mate, Harry Ginther Jr., by mutual friends. On February 21, 1948, Harry Ginther Jr. and Betty White Ginther solemnized their wedding vows in Rochester. Together they shared over 65 1/2 years of life's adventures. From their union came two daughters, Diana and Cindy, and a son Dan. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In 1985, Betty retired from General Tire in Wabash after thirty years of dedicated service. An avid reader she especially loved the mysteries authored by James Patterson. Each year she and her family planted a large garden. Betty would cold pack the bountiful harvest for her family's winter use. She and Harry butchered their own home raised beef and pork on site. Always on the move Betty traveled with her family to the Smokey Mountains, Shasta Dam, and Branson. There were many memorable trips to see and camp out under the starlit summer nights among the Redwoods in California. She and Harry wintered near Sebring, FL for a number of years. Great memories were made by three generations heading out to Mississinewa where they learned to appreciate nature while camping out. Riding the moped provided many adventures while camping. Left to cherish Betty's memory are her 2 daughters: Diana and husband Dennis DeMarco, Cindy and husband Michael Jernigan; a son Dan Ginther and wife Karen; six grandchildren: Kelli Denton and husband Doug, Deke DeMarco, Chad Jernigan and wife Dana, Amy Lester and husband David, Christy Waterman and husband Ryan, Darla Beck and husband Deric; 11 Great-Grandchildren: Drew, Derek, Austin, Adam, Noah, Kaleb, Brady, Brant, Carson, Breanna, and Katie; brothers Bill Brown and wife Pat, and Jerry Brown and wife Shirley; several nieces and nephews; best friends Carolyn and Keith Bathrick; and wonderful neighbors, the Gary Clevenger Family Preceding Betty in death are her parents; husband Harry on October 12, 2013; two granddaughters: Candy Jernigan and Jodie Ginther; 4 sisters: Klida, Verda, Ada, Maxine; and 4 brothers: Robert, Hobart, Pete and Walter.
