Obituary

Betty J. Brovont, 99, of Rochester, passed away at 3:25 AM on Friday, March 15 , 2019  at Life Care Canter of Rochester.

On January 20 , 1920, Betty Jane Douglas was born in Frankfort.    She was born to Scott and Zuba Shanks Douglas.  As the youngest of the three Douglas children, she had bright red hair and far too many freckles (as her Grandma always said).  She was raised primarily by her grandmother Cora and was very much a daughter of the depression.  In 1937  Betty graduated from Frankfort High School.  She later went to school to study cosmetology.

In Grant County, on July 23 , 1937, Betty married the love of her life  and a handsome young man, by the name of Mr. Roy D. Brovont.  They shared 58 years of life's adventures.  From their union came three wonderful children: Tommy Dean , Jennifer Jean  and Jill Roy.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.   She lived a long and wonderful life and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish Betty's memory are  two daughters: Jennifer Brinker, and husband Larry of Ramona, CA, and Jill Kimbrough and husband Phil of Irvine, CA;   nine grandchildren: Jeffrey R. Brovont, Douglas J. Brovont,  Roy Brinker, Dean Brinker , Penny Cox, Harold Harper, Samuel Harper, Jesse Harper, Jill Harper;  and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Betty in death are her parents Scott and Zuba Douglas; beloved husband Roy on January 28 , 1995; a son, Tommy D. Brovont July 14 , 2013 and granddaughter, Julia "Kim" Lewis November 7 , 2003; and her sister Louise Smith and brother Martin Douglas.

A celebration of the life of Betty J. Brovont will be at  3:00 PM  on Wednesday, March 20 , 2019,  in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.  Mr. Donnie Kohls will officiate.  Friends may visit with her family from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.   A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM  Thursday, March 21st in Grant Memorial Park of Marion.  Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O.
