Mrs. Bernice E. Ross, 80, of Rochester, IN, passed away at 12:25 AM, Monday, December 1st, at Life Care Center of Rochester. On November 5, 1934, Bernice was born in Braham, West Virginia to Albert L. and Violet Rose Burgess Davis. As one of nine of the Davis children she shared her childhood with three sisters and five brothers. In 1974 Bernice and Wilmer "Bill" Ross were married. Most of their twelve years together were spent in Columbus, Ohio. Sadly he passed away in February of 1986. Bernice was a homemaker and an avid gardener. At harvest time she canned and froze fruits and vegetables for her family. While living in West Virginia she was a hotel manager and had also worked in several restaurants. To relax she enjoyed watching Reba and The Golden Girls and to look for additions to her animal figurine collection. Bernice is lovingly remembered by a daughter: Barbara Justice Miller, of Rochester; a son: Charles Davis and wife Linda of Smithville, TN; 7 grandchildren: Shannon Davis and husband Michael of Egly, TN, Anthony Davis of Fort Wayne, Nicole Davis of TN, Larry Justice and wife Kate of TN, Michelle Schnitz and husband Jamie of Rochester, Michael Justice and wife Angie of TN, Scott Justice of TN; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Sue Prince, of Rochester and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bernice in death are her parents, husband Wilmer Ross formerly of Columbus, Ohio; 2 sisters: Audrey Prince of Mallory, West Virginia; Redith Marie Lee of Wilmington, Delaware; 5 brothers: Albert " Pete" Davis of Paducah, Kentucky; Dallas Davis of Columbus, Ohio; Tallas Davis of Lorado, West Virginia; and James Davis of Rochester. Pastor Matt Elliott will officiate services. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
