Mrs. Bernice Hartz, 99, of Leiters Ford, passed away at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Miller's Merry Manor of Culver. On September 30, 1915, Bernice was born in DeLong to Grover and Pearl Bunnell Kline. Growing up, she shared her childhood with six sisters and one brother. She was a lifetime Fulton County resident. Bernice and C.E. Mike Hartz were married on her 20th birthday in Rochester. They share 59 years together. He passed away September 25, 1994. Their union produced a daughter and two sons. Over the years three more generations have been added to the family tree. As a homemaker, Bernice was always busy. The times with her grandchildren were cherished. To relax she enjoyed reading and watching TV. She was a member of the Leiters Ford United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer. Bernice is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Carol Lahman of Rochester; a son, Michael Hartz and wife Gloria of Valparaiso; 7 grandchildren: Chris Hartz, Kerry Hartz, Karen Noel, Brad Lahman, Barry Lahman, Penny Cox, Scott Hattz; 14 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Talbott of Plymouth; daughter-in-law Sally Andrews of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bernice in death are her parents, husband, son Jerry Hartz, 5 sisters: June Welling, Margaret Corbin, Betty Stayton, Wilhelmine "Martha" Ginther, Frances Bowersox, a brother Robert Kline, and son-in-law Dean Lahman. Pastor Nancy Foster will officiate services.
