Mrs. Anita J. Eshelman of Rochester, passed away at 10:50 AM on Monday, September 16, 2013 at her home. On September 28, 1933, Anita June Keith was born in Hornbeak, TN, the precious daughter of Robert Russell and Ernestine Rogers Keith. In May of 1951 with great Zebra pride Anita graduated from Rochester High School. Anita and John E. Eshelman were married on January 10, 1954 at the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church of Fulton County. Their union of over 53 years produced five wonderful children: Jim, Dennis, Karen, Brian and Brett. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of 10 grandchildren. Devoted to caring for those in need of specialized health care, Anita embarked on a career that spanned over three decades. She began her career in 1973 with Bill and Helen Miller at Rochester's Canterbury Manor. After her family was raised, Anita returned to school and pursued her associates degree as a licensed practical nurse from the Kokomo School of Practical Nursing. She achieved her dream in 1987. Anita continued to work at Hickory Creek for 17 years, but also served stints at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver and Plymouth. In 2007, she hung up her blood pressure cuff and stethoscope for the last time, retiring from Life Care Center of Rochester. Anita is lovingly remembered by her 5 children: James A. Eshelman and companion Marion DeSio of Los Angeles, CA; Dennis K. Eshelman and wife Frances of Elwood; Karen Eshelman and companion Jeff Burnette of Rochester; Brian A. Eshelman and wife E-Fon of Houston, TX; Brett D. Eshelman and wife Peggy of Peru; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her feline companion Savannah a Siamese, and canine companions Jill the Boxer-Pit Bull blend and Willie the Lab-Pit mix. Preceding Anita in death were her parents and beloved husband John on October 4, 2007. Pastor Mike VanHeyningen will officiate services. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
