Obituary

Mrs. Adlene I Halterman, 94 of Rochester went to be with our Lord on Sunday at 12:40 p.m. at Woodlawn Hospital. On December 9th 1916, Adlene was born from the union of Lloyd and Tompie Moore Bryant. She shared her childhood with 2 sisters, Relna and Helen. With great pride, Adlene graduated from Akron High School in May of 1935. On August 23, 1936, Adlene married her best friend and the love of her life, Otis D. Halterman in Ft. Wayne. Together they shared 65 years marriage. They also enjoyed being partners in business with Otis's brother Harrison and his wife Eileen. Many will remember their family business, the Halterman Grocery on East 4th Street. After their retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Bonita Springs for a number of years. Sadly, Otis passed away on August 15, 2002 just short of their 66th wedding anniversary. A devoted Christian woman, Adlene was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. With a passion to help others she served with the Woodlawn Hospital Auxilliary volunteering for more than 45 years. Over the years Adlene cultivated many friendships. To relax she enjoyed all types of reading but preferred Christian works, like Ashes to Fire. She loved her role as homemaker and looked forward with Otis, to planting the vegetable garden and flowers that enhanced the beauty of their home. Adlene is lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. 2 sister-in-laws, Margaret Newman, and Eileen Peterson and husband Dale all of Rochester. She will also be missed by her loving church family and her friends she volunteered with at Woodlawn. Welcoming her to our Heavens and eternal home was husband Otis, sisters Helen Nichols, Relna Mowrer, her parents, church family that went before her and many other friends she made along life's journey here. A celebration of the life of Mrs. Adlene I Bryant Halterman will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Good Family Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Meyer and Rev. Frank Voss will officiate. She will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved husband Otis at Rochester's IOOF Cemetery.
